Hi,
My apologies to those who have already gotten this announcement on the
AgileBazaar yahoo group - but for those who haven't, here it is!
-------------
PRESENTATION ON SELF-ORGANIZING TEAMS
The Agile Manifesto lists as one of its principles: "The best
architectures, requirements and designs emerge from self-organizing
teams." XP and all the other Agile methods claim that their methods
produce teams that can flexibly adapt to changing circumstances. This
kind of resilience is a hallmark of self-organization. What else do we
know about self-organizing teams? Where do they come from? What
conditions foster self-organization? Once you have one, does it
automatically produce the "best" or is more required? Come to this
session with Diana Larsen where she will share what she has learned
about teams, self-organizing and otherwise, and what it takes to build a
high performance, agile software team.
WHAT: Diana Larsen will speak to us about Self Organizing teams. Diana
is an expert on team building and team development. She has worked with
Industrial XP in their coaching of XP teams. Don't miss this chance to
meet someone who really knows the "people side" of software teams.
WHERE: Pizzeria Uno in Newton Corner. 287 Washington St., Newton. We'll
be in the separate room in back, with the French doors.
See http://www.pizzeriauno.com/location.html
WHEN: 6:30 pm networking, 7:00 pm Speaker
COST: $10 per person to cover pizza, possibly other food depending on
attendance levels.
